Sindh agriculture facilities board set up

KARACHI: The government of Sindh has formed an "Agriculture Facilities Board" to review agriculture policies in the province, officials said here on Wednesday.

The Agriculture Facilities Board will work for self-sufficiency in food, officials added. "The board will also review problems connected with improved seeds, fertilizer, pesticides and plant protection operation," it was officially announced.

The board would also review the crops action plans, especially before the commencement of planting of Kharif and Rabi and to ensure availability of all types of inputs.

The Minister for Agriculture will be the chairman, of the board and its members will include secretary, Irrigation and Power Development, secretary Agriculture; managing director of Sindh Seed Corporation; a representative of Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan; a representative of State Bank of Pakistan; a representative of Pakistan Pesticides Association, President of Sindh Chamber of Agriculture, President of Sindh Abadgar Board.

Eight other representatives of private and government institutions would also be members of the Board.
