6 killed, 17 hurt in road mishap

PESHAWAR: Six persons were killed while 17 others received injuries when a passenger bus fell into a ravine while skidding off from an overhead bridge at Khat Kalley near Nowshera, early in the morning.

All the six who died were of the same family. Five of the injured are in precarious conditiion. The ill-fated 'Road Liner' bus (NRC: 1725) was coming from Gujranwala to Peshawar.

All the deceased and majority of the injured belong to Gujranwala.

According to details, when the bus reached near Khat Kalley near Nowshera before dawn on Wednesay morning, the driver lost control of the bus which fell into the ravine after breaking the side railing.

The injured were rushed to District Hosptial, Nowshera, and those in serious condition were referred to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.

The deceased were identified as Nazeer Ahmad son of Niaz Ahmad, Mst Allah Rakhi wife of Nazeer Ahmad and their grandson and daughter, Nargis wife of Azam Khan, and an unidentified person who expired at LRH.

The injured who belong to Gujranwala are Asif Ali son of Ashraf Mohammad Khalid son of Abdur Rasheed, Shazia wife of Khalid. Aftab son of Iltaf, Perveen wife of Asghar Ali Laila wife of Bashir, Adan daughter of Bashir, Irum daughter of Bashir, Sidra wife of Aqeel, one-year infant Naqeeb son of Aqeel. Saima and Rehmat Bibi wife of Siddiq.

Those from Peshawar are Abdul Jalil Jan son of Abdul Qayyum, Ehsan Ullah son of Taj Muhammad, Faizur Rehman son of Usman and Sajid son of Manzoor who belongs to Kohat.ÑAPP
