SSGC to bid for BD gas pipeline project consultancy

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd. (SSGC) may embark upon another foreign venture of laying a gas pipeline, if its bid to be offered on Thursday is acceptable to Bangladesh.

A spokesman said that the company is submitting a bid for consultancy or supervision services for laying a 47 km gas pipeline of 30" diameter a part of the Habibgang-Ashuganj-Rashidpour-Ashuganj loop lines project in Bangladesh.

A four-member team, headed by Anis Ahmed Ansar, General Manager (Distribution), left for Bangladesh on Wednesday to participate in the bidding, the spokesman said.

Besides participating in the bidding, the SSGC team would also explore further opportunities for extending the company's expertise in the fast expanding oil and gas sector of Bangladesh.

The company is also looking into the possibility of utilising its technical expertise in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A Sharjah based company, the official said, has invited SSGC to make its offer for the projects of Industrial Metering Station and Industrial Houselines.

Recently, SSGC signed an accord with a Nigerian gas company Ñ Gaslink Nigeria Ltd. (NGL) Ñ for providing technical services with regard to pipeline installation, design for transmission, project management, pipeline construction and inspection etc.

Industry experts said that the SSGC's entrance into global gas industry will boost its worth in the upcoming privatisation of the company.
