Peshawar motorway sub-contractors demand dues against Bayinder

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Contractors Association of Bayinder, a Turkish company, constructing Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, has appealed to the government to help in recovering the outstanding amount of Rs. 540 million from the company.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the association said that the amount has not been paid to the contractors for the last seven months.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has paid to Bayinder, but it has not paid to the contractors, which is causing financial problems, the statement said.

The association said: "Owing to this, salaries of our staff have been stopped." We have also contacted Ministry of Communication and NHA in this regard, but according to them all dues have been paid to Bayinder."

A convening committee comprising representatives of Eastern Construction Company, Akbar Associate, Redco Pakistan Ltd., Habib Rafique (Pvt) Ltd and Zarak (Pvt) Ltd has been constituted to negotiate the matter with the NHA and Ministry of Communication, it added. APP
