Life imprisonment awarded
MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Additional District and Sessions Judge, Iftikhar Ahmad Khan has awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 0.27 million under Deet punishment to the accused Liaquat Ali and Mohammad Butt involved in a murder case. The court also awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) each to Manzoran Bibi and Liaquat Ali under Hadood Ordinance. The court also awarded 14 years RI each to Irshad Begum and Manzoran Bibi. According to prosecution, the accused shot dead Mohammad Khan while he was at sleep.ÑPPI
PR minimum fare fixed at Rs 5
SUKHEKI: Pakistan Railways authorities has enhanced the minimum fare at Rs. 5 from Rs. 3. According to a circular issued by the Pakistan Railways Chairman, for the grant of season ticket (Pass), 30 one way fares will be charged instead of 24 from now onward.ÑPPI

22 held for water theft
BAHAWALPUR: Thirt-one cases of water theft have been registered in Bahawalpur Division during the current month and 22 persons have been arrested in this respect.ÑAPP
Encroachment on govt land
KARACHI: Any encroachment on government/KDA/KMC land, footpaths, roads, allotted to various societies and agencies in the jurisdiction of Karachi District South has been prohibited by the District Magistrate South under section 144 Cr. P.C. The order will come into force immediately for a period of 60 days.ÑAPP
