India coal truck plunge kills 24 workers
BHOPAL: Twenty-four Indian colliery workers hitching a ride home were killed when their truck loaded with coal plunged into a gorge, a government official said on Sunday.
The Saturday evening accident in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh also injured 26.
Many of those killed were asphyxiated under the coal, Magistrate Sanjay Bandopadhaya told Reuters from Chhindwara District, 250 km (155 miles) south of the state capital Bhopal.-Reuters
