Farmers urge

CE, Governor to

save them from

wadera's threats

HAFEEZ SHAIKH

HYDERABAD: The land owners of Deh Samhbani, Taluka Tando Mohammad Khan, have appealed to the Chief Executive, Sindh Governor and senior officials of the administration to protect them against the alleged excesses of Wedera Nazeer Leghari, his armed hoodlums and the SDO Irrigation Bakerani Sub-division.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club here on Sunday, Syed Fazil Shah and his nephew Syed Madad Ali Shah said that they had ancestral land of 160 acres in the above Deh.

They said that about one and a half year back, wadera Nazeer Leghari of district Badin, who had purchased about 12 to 13 acres of land from poor abadgar on water Course No.-6-L of Zaunr Shaikh forcibly took possession of one acre of their land by force and started stealing water to cultivate sugarcane with the connivance of SDO Irrigation Bukera sub-division, Surveyor, Darogha and Beldar.

They said that at the time of wheat sowing season the wadera got them and brother of Fazil Shah, arrested by paying heavy bribe to the police who kept in custody for two months hence could not cultivate wheat on 100 acres of land. They added that Zaunr Shaikh was breached as a result their homes were submerged under water.

They claimed that they had approached the Hyderabad Monitoring Cell but without any result.

They charged that on February 25, Nazeer Leghari and his campanions continued firing for two hours forcing them to take shelter behind closed doors.
