Effects of Lahore Declaration Mullified

LAHORE: The government headed by General Pervez Musharraf has Mullified the effects of Lahore Declaration, including the damage which it rendered to the "Centrality" of the core issue of Kashmir.
These views were expressed by Adviser to Chief Executive to on Media and National Affairs Javed Jabbar while addressing 38th death anniversary of Hameed Nizami at Alhamara Centre here on Sunday.
Giving his views on CTBT, he said there would be no signing without evolving a national consensus on the issue.
He disclosed that the nation would soon testify radical steps taken by the present regime. The information media and private sector in the country would be openly allowed to express their views on all matters of public importance, he added.
Recalling the services of late Hameed Nizami, he said he was a staunch and a true Pakistani who adhered to his principles and remained affiliated with the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) till his death in 1962.
He also applauded the courage depicted by Hameed Nizami during the martial law of Ayub Khan. "The younger generation can learn a lot from the example set by the late journalist," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Lt Gen Moin Uddin Haider (Retd) said that people admired Hameed Nizami due to his outstanding qualities and character.
He said the nations, which follow their principles stringently and avoid deviation from their character and deeds,emerge successful in the comity of nations.
Talking about Indian attack resulting in killing of innocent civilians in Azad Kashmir, he said the act speaks of gross violation of all human norms.
The minister warned India that in case of an eventuality the valiant Pakistani nation along with its armed forces would stand as a rock against the enemy.
Moin Uddin said the present government attaches foremost importance in preserving the national interests.
He advised the nation to adopt austerity and simplicity. "This way the country would be out of the clutches of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other such institutions," he added.
The interior minister said that he firmly believed in a return to democracy. "Efforts are being made to put the country to the path of real and everlasting democracy," he added.
The Chief Editor, Nawai-e-Waqt and The Nation, Majeed Nazami, speaking on the occasion extolled the statement of Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf for declaring Pakistan and Kashmir as correlative, beside encouraging he role of Jehad groups in Kashmir freedom struggle.
A large number of prominent citizens including former chief justice Nasim Hasan Shah, Dr.Javaid Iqbal, Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Ajmal Khattak, Ejaz-ul-Haq, Aitzaz Ahsan, Sajid Mir were present on the occasion.
