CJs committee decisions termed revolutionary
ISLAMABAD: Legal experts have termed the decisions of Chief Justices' Committee as revolutionary and courageous and said the process of provision of Justice to the people will speed up due to these decisions.
Former president Supreme Court Bar Association, Akram Sheikh said, the decision to settle the under consideration cases of divorce, children custody and rent till May 31, 2000 is a very revolutionary and courageous step.
Every body knows that cases of children custody which turn into dispute and come to courts are very painful and distressing for widows, orphans and parents, he added.
Similarly, the rent, divorce and marital cases which go on for years are great source of pain and sorrow, particularly because in our society, there already are very less facilities and opportunities of prosperity and happiness, he added.
"I think that the Chief Justices Committee have felt the pain of the whole society," he said.
The decision to provide relief to the down-trodden on priority basis will have a far-reaching impact," Akram Sheik added.
Barrister Khurshid Hashmi, Dean Faculty of Law, Karachi University said the emphasis of the Chief Justices is the early settlement of the pending cases, so justice reaches the people who wander for years for speedy justice.
The decision would also facilitate settlement of the new cases, he added. APP
