Azim inaugurates Rotary Club's audiological unit at CHK

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) on Friday said that Rotary Audiological Unit for under hearing children set up at ENT Department of Civil Hospital was indeed a gigantic effort of Rotary Club for a noble cause.

Addressing a reception after inaugurating the Audiological Unit, he said that a former MNA Khaqan Abbasi, was in airforce with him and failed in audiometeric test due to some hearing problem.

Praising the services of Rotary Club, the Governor said "We are aware of your services for eradication of small pox and polio, etc" and added that "Sindh is the province from where small pox has been eradicated completely. We are proud of Rotary, he said.

Earlier, presenting the address of welcome, Rotary Club President Faiz Qidwai, said that the audiological unit was funded by the Children Opportunities Grant of the Rotary Foundation.

He said this facility is first of its kind, established in Sindh and public sector in Pakistan.

The total cost of the project is approximately US $20,000. Dr. Shabih Haider Zaidi, Professor of ENT, Dow Medical College gave technical presentation about the unit.

Besides Barrister Shahida Jamil, Minister for Law, Social Welfare and Women Development rotarians and a large number of guests attended the reception.
