1,018 posts in IT dept abolished

ISLAMABAD: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Wednesday abolished 1,018 posts the Income Tax Department in its on going process of right-sizing and to improve the efficiency of the revenue departments.

This includes 96 posts of grade 16 to 21 and 922 posts of BS-1 to BS-15, official sources told Business Recorder.

The CBR has abolished posts of Director General, Directorate General of Tax Withholding, Islamabad; Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Islamabad; Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding Lahore; Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Karachi; Commissioner of Income Tax, Appeals Zone-VII, Karachi; Chief (Wealth Tax), CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Chief (Tax Education), CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Secretary Wealth Tax, CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Secretary (R and C), CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Secretary (WTO), CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Secretary (Member Judicial) CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Additional Director Directorate of Tax Withholding, Karachi; Additional Director Directorate of Tax Withholding, Faisalabad; Additional Director Directorate, of Tax Withholding, Hyderabad; Additional Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Lahore; Additional Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Islamabad; Additional Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Multan; Second Secretary (Withholding Tax), CBR (Hqr.), Islamabad; Second Secretary (Judicial), Office of the Member (Judicial) CBR, Lahore; Second Secretary (Judicial) Office of the Member (Judicial) CBR, Karachi; Second Secretary (Judicial) Office of the Member (Judicial) CBR, Islamabad; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Karachi; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Sukkur; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Quetta; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Peshawar; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Rawalpindi; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Lahore; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Sialkot; Deputy Director, Directorate of Tax Withholding, Gujranwala; Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax-Circle Companies Zone-V Karachi; Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax-Circle, Companies Zone-III, Lahore and Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax-Circle, Companies Zone, Faisalabad.

The CBR has also abolished 32 posts of Income Tax Officers of BPS-16 in various Companies Zones at Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Multan and Faisalabad.

The CBR has abolished 193 posts of BS-1 to BS-15 of Northern Region Islamabad; 246 of Central Region Multan; 270 of Southern and Corporate Regions, Karachi and 213 posts of Eastern Region, Lahore.

Northern Region, Islamabad includes Office of the Regional Commissioner of Income Tax, Northern Region, Islamabad, Islamabad Zone; Companies Zone Islamabad, Gujranwala Zone, Sialkot Zone, Rawalpindi Zone, Peshawar Zone and Companies Zone Peshawar.

However, Southern and Corporate Regions, Karachi comprises Companies Zone-V, Karachi, Hyderabad Zone, Sukkur Zone and all Zones of Southern and Corporate Regions at Karachi.

The CBR has already right-sized the indirect taxes wings by abolishing 1,000 posts from Grade 1 to Grade 22.
