Jute millers meet Razak
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industry and Production Abdul Razak Dawood said on Tuesday that the government belived in open, transparent and consistent system and would evolve a pragmatic policy to redress the grievances of jute industry.
He was talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Jute Mills Association (PJMA) led by its chairman Mazhar Valjee at a meetiing held here.
The meeting held threadbare discussion on the various aspects of jute industry and exchanged views on how to address the difficulties being faced by the industry.
The delegation apprised the minister about the present status of jute industry and suggested some measures for protecting the future of this industry.
The delegation put forth the suggestions relating to heavy taxes and procurement system of jute bags by federal and provincial governments.
They referred to India and Bangladesh and suggested to make it obligatory on their pattern to use jute bags for packing fertilizer, grain and other like items.
The minister urged the members of the association as well as officials of the ministry to further work on the different aspects of the issues and come up with concreate and useful proposals so that a workable system could be evolved for resolution of the grievances of jute industry. APP
