Fesco seeks ban on use of metallic cord with kites

FAISALABAD: Kite-flying with metallic cord is a potential threat to human life which may also cause colossal financial loss to Fesco.

In a statement issued here today, Fesco Chief Executive Brig. Mohammad Aslam Khan, said that every year basant claim many lives while the use of metallic cord and chemically treated wire for kite-flying during last few years has made it more perilous, not only for human beings but also for the Wapda installations. He said that many Wapda transformers were destroyed causing colossal loss to the Authority, disrupting electricity supply to industrial and domestic consumers.

He said that kite-flyers should not be metallic or chemically treated cord. However, he also pleaded action against the shopkeepers selling such hazardous items to youth and children.
