CJ to open Asian Ombudsmen moot today

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Irshad Hassan Khan will inaugurate the conference of Board of Directors of Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) here on Tuesday.

Besides Pakistan, that is President of the Asian Ombudsman Association, the 3-day meeting will be attended by other members of the Board including China, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Philippines, Korea, Macau and Sri Lanka.

The AOA Board of Directors was elected at general session of the Association in Macau in 1998, and the decision to hold its first formal meeting in Pakistan was taken by the AOA at its meeting in Tehran last year.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan who played pioneering role in establishing AOA, has been actively participating in its activities ever since its inception. The Asian Ombudsman Association was set up in April, 1998, during the first Asian Ombudsman Conference held in Islamabad.ÑAPP
