Musharraf may attend G-77 Summit
ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf may lead Pakistan delegation to the G-77 South Summit being held in Havana from April 12 to 14.
This was stated by the Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar in a meeting with Alberto Velazco San Jose, special envoy of the President of Cuba, who called on him on Saturday.
The envoy conveyed the greetings and good wishes of President Fidel Castro and handed over a letter of invitation for Pakistan's participation in the forthcoming G-77 South Summit.
Alberto recalled that the proposal to convene a South Summit was first president by Pakistan during the G-77 meeting in Costa Rica in 1997.
Cuba regards Pakistan as an important and leading country in the G-77 and looks forward to Pakistan's active participation and contribution to the success of the South Summit.
The foreign minister complimented the Cuban government for hosting this important even and assured the special envoy of the fullest cooperation of the government of Pakistan in making the summit a great success.
The foreign minister also briefed the special envoy on the recent developments in Pakistan and various reform measures being undertaken by the government.
Alberto also called on the foreign secretary and discussed various matters pertaining to the summit. APP
