PESHAWAR: A one-day media workshop on 'forestry sector reforms' will be held on February 29 at a local hotel in Peshawar. The workshop has been arranged by Sungi Development Foundation with the purpose of acquainting mediamen on forest reforms.ÑAPP

KARACHI: Karachi Police, during its special campaign, arrested 43 persons involved in various crimes from various parts of five districts during the last 24 hours. According to police it recovered one kalashnikov 7, pistols, one carbine besides some narcotics, liquor and oath stolen property from the accused.ÑAPP

UNDCP drug study for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Division and the Ministry of Interior will launch this month an assessment study on drug abuse in Pakistan. It is going to be the first nation-wide study on drug abuse in Pakistan since 1993, the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) said in a newsletter.ÑAPP

Dacoit killed by inmates

KASUR: One dacoit was killed by the inmates during a dacoity bid at village Lambery Jagir, Bhaipheru on Saturday. Four armed dacoits broke into the house of Abdul Sattar on Friday night and held up the inmates on gun point and ordered them to hand over valuables. When the family members resisted to foil the dacoity bid the dacoits opened fire on them. The inmates also opened fire as a result one dacoit Abdul Sattar was killed on the spot while his three accomplices fled.ÑAPP
