Display of arms punishable, says Moin
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has said that display of arms at public places will become punishable with jail term extending to seven years or fine or both from the first of next month.
A spokesman of the ministry classified the public places as "fairs, ingathering, processions of political, ceremonial or religious nature, in the premises of courts of law, public offices, educational institutions, hostels and boarding houses.
Any contravention of this warning, the spokesman added, had become cognizable under the Pakistan Ordinance, 1965.
He also cautioned people that same punishment will be applicable for those involved in "serial firings at Basant or marriage parties".
He said the federal government had ordered the provincial authorities to enforce the restriction strictly.
