arrives in Karachi

KARACHI: A 16-member delegation of Asean, headed by Amin Aljeffri, Chairman, Asean Pakistan Business Council and Secretary-General of Asean Chamber of Commerce and Industry has arrived in Karachi to attend the first meeting of Asean-Pakistan Joint Business Council (APJBC) scheduled to be held on February 21, 2000 at the Federation House here.

The delegation comprises representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos and Asean CCI Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur. The Asean delegation will also participate in a trade facilitation workshop on February 22 which is being organised by the Export Promotion Bureau.

Ilyas Ahmed Bilour, a former President of FPCCI is the chairman of Pakistan-Asean Business Council which had signed the cooperation agreement in Singapore on October 14, 1997 with Asean Chamber of Commerce and Industry during the APJBC meeting. The visiting Asean delegation would present statements on Asean-Pakistan Business Cooperation and review Pakistan's trade with their respective countries. The meeting would also identify potential areas of mutual cooperation in trade, investment and industry between Pakistan and Asean countries.
