ADB team, Punjab CS discuss projects

LAHORE: A five-member delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on Punjab Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa here on Tuesday and discussed the on-going and proposed ADB projects in the province.
Marshuk Ali Shah, head of the delegation, said in the meeting that the ADB is providing funds to improve roads under the Punjab Section Project, while funds are also being provided for developing roads in small urban centres under the Punjab Urban Development Project.
He said the work has also been started to improve the irrigation system.
Various projects concerning women's education and the development of Barani areas also came under discussion.
The delegation said that the bank would provide more funds ranging from $550 million to $750 million for the completion of different projects.
The chief secretary said that the Punjab government is making all-out efforts for the accomplishment of on-going projects as well as starting new ones with the cooperation of the bank.
