4 high yielding cotton varieties proposed for next sowing

FAISALABAD: The expert sub-committee of Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad, (AARI) has recommended four high yielding cotton varieties for approval for next sowing season, which are not only early maturing but also CLCV resistant and heat tolerant.

This was disclosed by Director General Agricultural Research, AARI, Dr. Ch. Ghulam Mohammad, after presiding a special meeting of expert sub-committee here on Tuesday.

He said the FH-900, FH-901, MNH-554 and CIM-482 varities are high yielding, and will be included in next sowing programme.

He explained that a virus resistant variety MNH-554 with good staple length and height GOT will give excellent yield, while CIM-482 produced bigger boll during final trial.

The expert sub-committee also recommended Chickpea varieties CIM-1571-22, Balkasar-99, and Punjab Channa-99 for approval, while three cotton varieties MNH-552, VH-137 and BH-125 were deferred for further testing trials.
