PPL MD kidnapping still shrouded in mystery

KARACHI: The 11-day old kidnapping mystery of Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. Managing Director, Syed Munsif Raza still remains unsolved though the matter is now being monitored at the highest administrative level.

Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf has asked the concerned authorities to send reports to him on daily basis with regard to the efforts for tracking down the kidnappers and recovering Syed Munsif Raza, Islamabad-based sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday.

The City police, the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and many other agencies are engaged in a hectic search for the missing PPL managing director. But the PPL officials and police are tight-lipped about any progress made in the investigation. The Tipu Sultan police station denies that any FIR has been registered with it in connection with Syed Munsif Raza's abduction from its jurisdiction. However, they said that they were investigating the case on the instructions of higher authorities.

The scope of the investigation has been stretched up to the interior of Sindh and Balochistan, they said.
