CE appreciates minorities services
LAHORE: The Chief Executive, General Pervez Musharraf, while talking to a representative delegation of minorities here on Friday, said that he is a firm believer of human dignity regardless of cast, creed or race.
The Chief Executive appreciated the minority community's services in the fields of education, health and other social sectors. He assured them of expeditious redressal of their genuine grievances, and directed the minister for minorities, Derick Cyprian, to ensure early solution of the same.
The delegation members strongly supported the government's Kashmir policy and added that they condemn human rights violations by Indian security forces in occupied Kashmir. They also supported seven-point national agenda of the government, which "has brought new hope" for the poor masses.
The Bishop of Lahore, Alexander John Malik, informed the CE that he had led a procession to Pak-India border where he raised voice against human rights violations by Indians against Christians in India.
He expressed confidence that the concept of people's participation through devolution of power while bring true democracy in the country. He also expressed hope that the minorities will be given equal opportunities to play their due role in the present set-up for the re-construction of the country.
The delegation included Armando Trinidad, Archbishop of Lahore, Behram D. Avari, Rev. Dr. Alexander Malik, Bishop of Lahore, Mrs. Mecra Phailbus, Bishop Samuel Azarian, Bishop of Raiwind, and Nowsher F. Dastoor, the Corps Commander Lahore, Lt. Gen. Khalid Maqbool, was also present.ÑAPP
