Govt to take steps for welfare of special people, says Zubaida

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Women Development, Special Education and Social Welfare Zubaida Jalal said on Thursday the government is committed to taking revolutionary steps for the welfare of special persons.

The Ministry has chalked out a special package for special people, offering them incentives in different areas," she said while speaking here at an Eid milan party for special children, organised by Pakistan Qaumi Yakjehti Council.

Under the package, currently being considered by the cabinet for final approval, the ministry said, special persons would be granted concessions in fares of aeroplane, trains and buses, besides other facilities in various fields of life.

Zubaida Jalal said the revival of special people as self-reliant and useful citizens was a collective responsibility of the government and conscious citizens in every civilised society.

She said despite financial restraints, Pakistan has witnessed enough progress in the welfare of the special people, adding, however, it needs further attention for which NGOs and volunteer organisations are required to play more effective role.

The minister said, though the problems and needs of disabled people are some different and complex in nature when compared with those, who are normal persons, our special attention, proper care and guidance can make it an easy job.

She said special people, besides other events, need entertainment activities so that they would be able to get mental and physical relaxation. Their participation in such progress helps creating self-confidence and society security among them, she said. APP
