Daudpota seeks educational institutions' role in economic uplift

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Air Marshal Azim Daudpota (Retd) has said that the country will witness increased investment forthcoming as a result of the government's measures which will lead to attainment of good results in the economic and industrial sectors.

He was talking to a delegation of Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, which called on him at the Governor House on Thursday. The delegation included Institute Chancellor Dr. Izharul Hasan and Adnan Airabi.

The governor pointed out that an investment-friendly environment would help provide better prospects for jobs to unemployed and skilled youth.

He emphasised that while the industries, corporate sector and banks are to share their bit towards economic progress, the educational institutions too, have to play their due role.

Education and knowledge which may commensurate with modern needs and also fulfil the industrial and economic requirements of the present day is very essential, he added.

He, however, made it clear that the government alone cannot make higher education available to every citizen. In this regard private sector the worldover owes an important role and it is contributing due share as well.

In Pakistan also, he said, the private sector higher educational institutions need to be promoted so that the existing deficiency could be overcome.
