Adil elected APP Employees Union chief

Islamabad: Muhammad Ramzan Adil and Manzoor Hussain Raja were elected president and general secretary of APP Employees Union of Pakistan, Islamabad (CBA) here on Tuesday.

According to results announced in the wee hours of Wednesday, Adil Group won the seats of vice president, joint secretary, treasurer and five out of six executive seats.

Ramzan Adil and Manzoor Hussain Raja secured 121 and 126 votes respectively, while their opponents Bilal Thaheem and Muhammad Qamash got 116 and 107 votes.

Muhammad Aftab Zahoor remained at the top by pocketing 137 votes to win the vice president seat by defeating Latif Abbasi who got 96 votes.

Muhammad Rasheed Malik was declared joint secretary after he defeated his rival Waheed Qureshi by four votes.

Yousaf Ali was elected for the office of treasurer as he got 123 votes to defeat Muhammad Boota who obtained 110 votes.

Executive seats winners include Ilyas Bhatti (133), Waheed Khan Khakwani (130), Nazir Ahmed (122), Khatibur Rehman (121) and Muhammad Iqbal Cheema (117), all from the Adil Group.

Salahuddin Khan (120) and Zafar Rasheed Bhatti (123) of the Murad Awan (late) Group were declared winner for the offices of press secretary and executive council member respectively.

Muhammad Ramzan Adil, who is also the chairman of All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (Apnec), won the APP Employees Union elections for ninth time.
