Money changer robbed of over Rs 0.9m

Lahore: Three dacoits looted foreign and local currency worth Rs 908,198 from a money changer in broad daylight here on Wednesday.
Farooq Ahmad Meer of Meer Farooq Money Exchange, a resident of 9-G Upper Mall, Lahore, was on way to his office at Davis Heights, Davis Road, in Suzuki Mehran (LXH-326).
When he reached Sundar Das Road, three dacoits, who were chasing him in Toyota Corolla car (LOP-4945), stopped him. They took him and the driver at gun-point and got hold of his briefcase by smashing window panes of the vehicle with the gun, and fled away with the booty.
According to the FIR registered with the Race Course police station, the briefcase contained $8888, DM 3700, œ 835, Canadian dollars 420 and Rs 236,450 in Pak currency.
Besides currency, the dacoits also snatched a .30 pistol a passport, a mobile charger battery, a black diary and the keys of the car.
Aamir Sohail, an office-bearer of Money Exchange Union, has condemned the incident and demanded of the law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits. He said that the incident had created panic and a sense of insecurity among the currency dealers.
