3 Pakistanis held in Dubai for smuggling drug
DUBAI: Dubai Police Narcotics Control Squad has arrested three Pakistanis for smuggling drugs into the country.
A press release of Dubai police said on Wednesday that acting on an information that an Asian possessing around 500 kg of hashish was looking for a buyer, the Narcotics Control Department set a trap to arrest the suspect red-handed. A member of the squad, posting as a buyer met the trader, Mohammed Sharif Amir Jan, at an apartment.
Sharif informed the Squad's member that he cold sell him a large quantity of hashish, but said that it was with somebody else and that he could sell him only 50 kg for DH 170,000 on the spot. They agreed to meet the following day to arrange for the delivery of the remaining quantity.
The following day, the undercover policemen rented a car, picked up the trader and met other two persons, Rana Safar Ali and Riaz Ahmed Fazlur Rahman.
They told the 'buyer' to wait for them at 5-pm and went to Sharjah, bought some plastic bags and drove to a shop in Ajman from where they packed the hashish and came back to Dubai.
As they were on way back to Dubai, the police were waiting for them in Ghusais area, where they were arrested. Upon searching their car, the police found 58 kg hashish.
During interrogation, Rana and Riaz confessed that they had smuggled narcotics into the country. Rana said he still had another 50 kg of the drug in his Ajman shop.
The shop was raided and the remaining quantity of narcotics was confiscated. PPI
