Meter tampering
case not
withdrawn: Hubco
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Hub Power Company has denied reports that Pakistan Government and Wapda have withdrawn the FIR about meter tampering.
"Unfortunately, Wapda has made habit of announcing or agreeing to certain actions and then backing out," said a statement issued by Hubco here on Monday.
"The meter tampering is a ridiculous charge without any merit," said the statement.
"No meter was tampered with. However, a seal of the back-door of the back up meter was found missing. The back-up meter was installed by the Company itself and it is a back-up to the main meter which is Wapda's meter and which forms the basis of Hubco's billing to Wapda," said the statement.
The readings on the two meters were reconciled which is proof enough that there was no meter tampering, it added.
On February 15, the Supreme Court will start hearing Hubco's appeal against the Sindh High Court restriction on Arbitration 'inspite of WAPDA's delaying tactics'.
'Hubco is confident that its position will be vindicated when the Special Banking Court in Karachi will hear on Feb 19 the corruption case filed by WAPDA against the company said the press statement.
