Army team conducts surprise visit of Jumma Bazar

ISLAMABAD: Army Monitoring Cell, Islamabad team alongwith Assist Commissioner Tariq Javed Malik, on Friday conducted a surprise visit of Jumma Bazaar, Peshawar More.

The team visited different stalls and thoroughly checked the quality and prices of different edible commodities and other daily use items.

The team took about 25 samples from the grocery confectionary shops including tea-leaves, pulses, pizzas, samosas which will be sent to National Institute of Health (NIH) to check the hygienic standards of the items.

The samples of various food items were collected from Triways Bakery, Malik Bakers, Punjab Bakery, Haq Halal Kiryana Store, and Taj Tea House.

The team also checked the quality, and prices of various food items including meat, chicken, vegetables pulses and ghee fixed by the Capital Development Authority.

They also checked on spot the measurement of different food items including meat and vegetables, and accuracy of the scales were also checked.

Later, the team directed the district administration and CDA to carry out regular checking of the bazaar in order to ensure maintaining the quality and prices of various commodities.

They also directed the district administration and CDA to close the bazaar before the sunset for security reasons and properly observe the timings of the Jumma Bazaar.

The team directed them to make registration and numbering of the "tokriwalas" (basket holders) roaming within the bazaar and also fix their prices.

Farah Nadeem district food controller accompanied the team and assisted them in collecting the samples of various food items from the stall holders.

Later, the customers talking to APP appreciated the surprise visit of the team.

Raja Nawaz Khan who came to the bazaar to buy food items said that today he is witnessing a big change in the attitude of the stall holders.

He said the stall holders are even selling their items in the Jumma Bazaar on lower prices and the quality of the commodities is also good. Another customers Ghulam Hassan called for regular checking of Jumma and Itwar Bazaars in the capital on regular basis.-APP
