Essentials continue
to move upward on
commodity markets

KARACHI: Essentials prices continued to move upward, except rice, on the commodity markets during the week end on April 1, 2000.
Among the riser were sugar, wheat beetle I, moong Punjab, masoor imported and raw rubber. The losers were plastic mouldings, Til Sindh new, yellow peas, guwar, urad imported etc. Tea urea mouldings and Kirana were mixed.
Plastic mouldings: Compound HDPE film HDP 952 rose by 38 paisa to Rs 27.12; Korea 3080 was up by 13 paisa to Rs 27.25; TR 144 dropped 37 paisa to Rs 26.75; Asrene dropped same amount to Rs 26.75; and 6888 shed 12 paisa to Rs 27. HDPE blow 6007 lost Re 1 to Rs 27; 6400 shed 50 paisa to Rs 27; Mobil dropped same amount to Rs 27; 5202 was down by 50 paisa to Rs 27; LDPE Lotrene 0374 retreated by 50 paisa to Rs 27.50; LLDPE W118 Ladene conceded 50 paisa to Rs 26; Delim shed same amount to Rs 26; and 7087 conceded 50 paisa to Rs 26. Polypropylene tape grade Delim dropped Rs 1.37 to Rs 21.13; Yuplene was quoted at Rs 22.50; Thai lost 75 paisa to Rs 21.75; and Saudi backed away by same amount to Rs 21.75.
Polypropylene injection grade Delim lost 75 paisa to Rs 21.75; Hanwa lost Rs 1.36 to Rs 21.12; and Yuplene was quoted at Rs 21.75.
Polystyrene GP Saudia was up Rs 20 to Rs 1840; Pakistan was up Rs 5 to Rs 1720; Polyrex up by Rs 40 to Rs 1840; and Dow was up by Rs 65 to Rs 1815. ABS per polylac gained Rs 2 to Rs 2235; Toyalac gained Rs 50 to Rs 2200.
Urea mouldings: Compound Ahn gained Rs 15 later lost Rs 25 to Rs 1170; China gained Rs 30 later lost Rs 10 to Rs 1420; Chemi was up by Rs 50 later lost Rs 100 to Rs 2250; Bip gained Rs 25 but lost same amount to Rs 2100; Kip gained Rs 25 but later maintained same level; sprea was up Rs 25 later lost Rs 50 to Rs 1950 and Melamine glazed gained early Rs 75 but later conceded Rs 225 to Rs 3975.
Powdered milk has shown rising trend lately. Skimmed Nurpur rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2750; Poland rose Rs 75 to Rs 2400; Dairy Crest gained Rs 50 to Rs 2950; Creme rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2550; Mix Me was up by Rs 50 to Rs 2650; Green Flag up by Rs 50 Rs 2650; and Soya Lac up by Rs 50 to Rs 2850. Sweetened Omel Halland gained Rs 50 to Rs 1775.
Kirana: (per 40 kg): Black pepper from Vietnam gained Rs 200 to Rs 1400. Big cardamom gained Rs 600 to Rs 18200. Cloves gained Rs 300 to Rs 12000. Isbaghol bhoosi gained Rs 200 to Rs 8000. Sago lost Rs 200 to Rs 1020. Cuminseed gained Rs 50 to Rs 3,300. Almond girdi gained Rs 50 to Rs 1700. Almond Irani gained Rs 600 to Rs 8800. Walnut kernal gained 400 to Rs 6000. Raisin Sindhhukhani gained Rs 1000 to Rs 3,400. Chilghoza gained Rs 900 to Rs 6400. Pistachio gained Rs 200 to Rs 18000. Dates semi-dry lost Rs 800 to Rs 1200. Dry dates was quoted at Rs 1800.
Raw rubber Latex from Singapore rose by Rs 20 to Rs 210 and Gim Rosik from Indonesia rose by Rs 200 to Rs 1800.
Chemicals: Caustic soda flakes Saudi gained 50 paisa to Rs 26. Formic acid from Germany gained 60 paisa to Rs 49. Petroleum Jelly white Iran gained 50 paisa to Rs 52.50. Sulphonic acid China lost 50 paisa to Rs 72.50. Hydrosulphite China 88 percent gained Re 1 to Rs 54. Hydrogen peroxide 35 percent from Taiwan shed ten paisa to Rs 23.
Dyes: China Tenjin sulphur black lost Re 1 to Rs 41. Formation Taiwan brown FG lost Rs 5 to Rs 180. Blue FFG gained Rs 5 to Rs 110. Green FBH lost Rs 2 to Rs 198. Basic colour Aramine O shed Rs 5 to Rs 105. Reactive dyes India golden HR fell by Rs 3 to Rs 204; yellow H4G shed Rs 5 to Rs 110; yellow FG was up by Rs 5 to Rs 90. Dispherse dye India yellow 4GL 200 percent lost Rs 15 to Rs 165. Disperse dye China Navy FGLN lost Rs 3 to Rs 202.
Sugar registered a rise of Rs 25 to Rs 2065 and better type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 2085. Gur rose sharply by Rs 100 to Rs 1600 and superior type gained Rs 100 to Rs 2000.
Wheat earlier dropped by Rs 50 but then gained by Rs 10, both types to be quoted at Rs 850 and Rs 860.
Guwar all stations was down by Rs 80 to Rs 1635 and better types lost Rs 100 to Rs 1662.
Rice Irri-9 Punjab both qualities lost Rs 50 to Rs 1050 and Rs 1150. Irri-9 Punjab (New) was at Rs 950 to Rs 975. Irri-6 Sindh (New) both types lost Rs 25 to Rs 800 and Rs 825.
Yellow peas both qualities shed Rs 25 to Rs 1225 and Rs 1250. Dal yellow peas inferior lost Rs 25 to Rs 1375 and better type lost Rs 30 to Rs 1400. Beetle No I gained Rs 35 to Rs 2370 and better type was up by Rs 25 to Rs 2400.
Castorseeds Lasbela both types gained Rs 25 to Rs 900 and Sindh lost same amount to Rs 850. Til Sindh new both types were quoted at Rs 1225 and Rs 1250.
Moong Punjab low was quoted at Rs 1750 and better type was higher by Rs 25 to Rs 1800. Masoor imported lost Rs 50 to Rs 2250 and better type was up at Rs 2350. Masoor dal imported low rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2250 and better type was quoted higher at Rs 2350. Urad Punjab was quoted at Rs 2075. Urad imported was quoted at Rs 1125 and Rs 1200. Barley Sindh was quoted at Rs 900.
Rapeseed Nawabshah low lost Rs 20 to be quoted at Rs 520 and better type was quoted at Rs 540. Rapeseed Mirpur rose by Rs 10 to Rs 510 and better type was quoted at Rs 550. Rapessed Dadu was higher by Rs 25 to be last quoted at Rs 450 and better type at Rs 475.
