Govt urged to ensure water
for crops in Sindh
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The Secretary, Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Pakistan, Imdad Kazi, has warned that if the rulers did not change the traditional system of governance, there would be a civil war in the country.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said there was an acute water crisis in Sindh and even drinking water was not available for the people.
Imdad Kazi said that people were forced to drink stagnant and poisonous water which could lead to the spread of epidemic.
He said in the southern districts of Sindh, the cotton sowing season had started but not a drop of irrigation water was available.
Kazi said that due to shortage of water, the wheat and sugarcane crops had been badly affected and feared that the entire province would be hit by drought and famine if the situation is not properly.
Kazi said that while Sindh was crying hoarse for each drop of water, the people in Punjab were drowning in rivers.
He demanded that a committee of experts from outside the government departments should be constituted comprising representatives of all the four provinces to oversee the distribution of water otherwise the consequences would be disastrous.
